An homage from My Husband in Honour of My Birthday

Video

I turned 36 this week.
It’s a big number isn’t it?

I have known my husband for 18 years which is half my life.
He has stood by me through thick and thin.

The fact that he chose to make this video humbles me. It is such a great proof of love.

Each picture has been lovingly selected and filtered with Instagram. I share this with you because of all the hard work that was put into it, because of its beauty and as a way of saying Thank You Greg. You are the true diamond, not I.

After having viewed the video, can you guess how many hair colors I have had? For me, nothing beats hair therapy.

As a show of appreciation for my husband’s hard work, please like this post. He is the artist behind cooksploratrice. So let’s all take a moment to like my husband Greg, AKA the Producer AKA Gee Bone. I know I like him a great deal and I am proud to be in his life. I love you Greg for everything that you do including this lovely video.

Klutzy moment: I resowed the label outside the shirt

How many cooksploratrice’s does it take to sow a ripped shirt seam? Too many to count. I sowed the shirt inside out in order to have a discrete seam. I pushed the label out of the way and never realized I had sown the label outside the shirt.

Sowing is definitely not a skill of mine.

Pomegranate salsa

Remember the discussion about colours and my need for vibrancy. I feel, well my family feels, I have been hitting the coriander and lime pretty hard over the past few weeks. I have been in a flavour palette rut. Despite the new ingredients, in this case the pomegranate, everything tastes the same.

My happiness project for February will include discovering new flavours and veering away from the same old same old.

The Saturday Morning Routine and Pantone

20130126-085840.jpg

Every Saturday morning, I read the paper. I read La Presse. I read it every day but on Saturday’s, it is a source of great joy. I always discover something new. Something I want to read up on, some place I want to go eat, some recipe I absolutely want to try or an article I need to buy as well as more often than not, a new place I want to visit.

Today’s discovery is Pantone colours and the Pantone hotel in Brussels.

I will spend big chunks of my day looking up pantone on Stumble Upon and on tumblr. I will discover new blogs to follow.

Why has this intrigued me so much?

The land around me is blanketed in white due to the winter weather. The colours around me are more muted. I long for the vibrancy of summer colours with their deep greens and reds. Pantone colours are a fuel injection of hues.

If i were my husband, I would run for the hills because this mood would lead me to repaint the whole house. Well, to want the whole house repainted while I play board games with the kids.

Do you also miss the vibrant colours? Are you sick of the cold? Do you have a sour e of creative inspiration on Saturday mornings?

May your day be filled with varied tones. I want you to bathe in oceans of yellows and oranges, purples, reds, indigos. But, no pastels, no whites, just raw splashes of deep tones.

I will leave you with Pantone 377 C. Look it up. Tell me what you think.

In the same vein of thought, I will be making pomegranate salsa. Colourful and very summery.

Next cooksploratrice and the producer movie review…

The next movie we will see is Hansel and Gretel on UltraAVX at Colossus Laval.

I love the fact that we can reserve our seating with UltraAVX. It makes going to see a movie so much less painful. Do you like the concept of reserved movie seats.

Here is the synopsis of the movie we will see:

Fifteen years earlier, siblings Hansel and Gretel made their escape from a child-snatching witch, who gave them a taste for blood and changed their lives forever. Now they have come of age as fierce, formidably-skilled bounty hunters, dedicated to tracking and terminating witches in every dark forest – hell-bent on retribution. But as the notorious Blood Moon approaches and a familiar wooded town faces a nightmare for its innocent children, Hansel and Gretel encounter an evil beyond any witch they have ever hunted – an evil that could hold the secret to their frightening past.

My initial take: it sounds bad but in a good way.

Let me know what you think of this movie. Do you intend to see it?

Left over pita bread on salad night.

20130124-191431.jpg

Thursday’s are vegetarian night. That is the theme we respect. However, I try to put lots of goodies on the table to make my family see that salad is a great treat.

I had two pieces of pita bread that had started to look old and wrinkly. I took out the kitchen scissors and chopped the pita into strips. I baked the chips with a sliver of olive oil and some coarse sea salt.

I did not create anything new but I made my family happy. They were munching happily on veggies. That makes me supremely happy.
